Creatures of the Night: SNF 2016

Following in the footsteps of previous instalments, Singapore Night Festival 2016 was a dazzling spectacle that retained all the enjoyable qualities of its predecessors: stunning performances, delicious food, atas-looking handicrafts and of course, the massive crowd at SMU’s campus green. However, this year’s instalment had its low points as well – the unexpected haze, hordes of Pokemon trainers and, alas, the massive crowd at SMU’s campus green.

But all’s well that ends well, right? I left the Night Festival feeling like I had just downed a pill in Ibiza. (Obviously I’ve never done that so let’s just pretend I know what it feels like). From the loud colours and blinding sounds, to the larger-than-life dinosaurs to the carnival-esque acrobats, just about everything brought a unique psychedelic dimension to the nights. My personal favourite, however, is a tie between the funky holograms on the Singapore Art Museum and the beautiful acrobatic performance called the Wheel House.

If you missed the festival this year and want to psych yourself out, have a look at some of the highlights from the event that we put together for you:
