The magazine
The Blue And Gold (TBNG) is Singapore Management University's premier online publication. As the students' voice, we are an integral press platform for all CCAs and student bodies, covering everything from opinion pieces to lifestyle features. We aim to hone the editorial skills of aspiring writers, editors, and journalists, by providing an avenue for them to express their opinions of current events on and off campus. If you are looking for opportunities to expand your world view, master critical thinking, and write clearly, TBNG is the place to be.
Because we aren't just the students' voice,
we are the students.

Editor-in-Chief
Ho Wen Xuan Estelle
Double Major in Psychology and Political Science
School of Social Sciences
Estelle is a Golden Retriever in human form who loves people and is passionately curious about them. She believes that everyone has a story to tell and has their own fascinating journey to take. When she is not being her goofy self with other amazing hoomans, she transforms into a more introspective curious cat where you will find her quietly reflecting on her own learning journey in a cosy corner of the SMU library. Estelle holds deep and passionate interests in a diverse range of subject matter, and this sense of seriousness is clearly shown by how she has qualifications in multiple disciplines - she is formally trained in events management; and she is also a Horticulturist by training. Infinitely fascinated by the social and the natural sciences, Estelle is energized by intellectual discussions on these topics and she welcomes anyone who will engage her in them.
Managing Editor
Foo Ee-va
School of Law
Eeva enjoys your typical hobbies of reading, music and film. Her favourite authors range from Roald Dahl to Camus, and favourite films from 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' to 'Legally Blonde'. Outside of these hobbies, she is also deeply interested marine life, especially the orca. Eeva hopes to one day be able to play a role in the conservation of such animals.
Human Resources & Finance Director
Rachel Kok Chian Yee
School of Business
Rachel is crazy about bubble tea, cinematography, photoshop and diction because word choice to her is equivalent as money is to the common man. Rachel loves listening to aggressively sad songs on light happy days. She also enjoys swimming and travelling. On top of that, she possesses the uncanny ability to make self-deprecating inflections.
Site Director
Tan Xue Min, Shermaine
School of Law
Shermaine loves reading, writing, Tumblr, anime, music, food and people who don’t make fun of her height. Her laptop is her best friend, and if given the option to, she would stay on the couch all day cuddling with it. #friendshipgoals
Public Relations and Social Media Director
Prarthana Prakash
Major in Politics, Law and Economics
School of Social Sciences
Prarthana Prakash is a Year 2 PLE Major. Much suited to her personality, she loves debating with everyone, from her classmates to roommates. When she's not debating, she loves to learn new things, read books and discuss politics. She’s a fitness freak by day, and an avid ice cream lover by night (she has an Instagram page showcasing ice cream from around the world. Go check it out!). In her free time when she’s not studying, she enjoys singing with her ukulele.
Senior Associate Editor (Mentor)
Teng Hao
School of Economics
As a resident of the SMU Lee Ka Shing Library, Teng Hao loves reading and sleeping. Reading, because good writing corrects his perspectives and is what he puts his ideas into - it’s also a great way to escape from the economics degree he’s pursuing. Sleeping, because sleep is the great equaliser. Everyone is the same height in bed.
Associate Editor
Akanksha Kumar
Double Major in Psychology and OBHR
School of Social Sciences
Akanksha loves to read fiction and often dabbles around with poetry. She loves short stories, music, long walks and rainy days. Although she may appear quiet at first, she's always down for a good conversation over food and drink. She believes there's nothing more therapeutic than an evening of Netflix and a tub of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. She spends a little too much time looking at memes; and yes - she will cross the street to pet that dog on the other side.
Associate Editor
Mohamed Shafie Bin Allameen
School of Law
Shafie is usually spotted reading a book or watching TV shows like The Big Bang Theory or How to Get Away with Murder. He enjoys hanging out wth friends, travelling and of course, the one thing he unfortunately lacks the most - a good night's sleep.
Associate Editor
Alessia Soh Lay Kit
School of Business
A walking contradiction who likes pastels and goth and everything in between, Alessia loves to binge on chick flicks and rom-coms. The only thing she loves more than binging on chick flicks and rom-coms is binging on chick flicks and rom-coms in bed on a rainy day.
