A deLightful Week 12 run
Week 12 and the school library was deathly silent save for the sounds of highlighters moving across pages and furious typing. That lengthy paragraph about policy making in size 9 font in front of me was barely making any sense – only 30 more pages to go! Needed a break, but, you know, can’t exactly eat a KitKat in the library.
So I thought, hey, why not a running adventure of sorts to Marina Bay!
At the moment, Marina Bay is lit up for the iLight Marina Bay festival. While the area is generally gorgeous at night with the Singapore skyline glittering in the background, the iLight installations are an added bonus to a cool night's run with friends.
Getting to the Bay area is easy: start your journey from LKCSB, and head straight down all the way past City Hall towards the Esplanade. An expansive view from the Singapore River greets you in all its razzledazzle when you get there.

Stroll down along the Singapore River and onto the Floating platform at Marina Bay. The views and the breeze get even more magnificent here!

Also, make it a point to stop by the Megafash Art Market at the Floating Platform for some interesting flea market finds. While the the flea market was not as bustling as I expected it to be, the items on sale were certainly one of a kind.

Wend your way over to the Helix bridge after for a different angle of the Bay area. Stand on one of the viewing decks and and attempt to take a well lit picture of the sights. You'll need a steady hand!

If you're in the mood for some nibbles after your run, saunter over to Pasarbella. The sights and smells of the alfresco marketplace make the food 10 times more tantalizing even if the grub is rather pricey for students.
If you continue running down along the path, you’ll come across interesting illuminated artworks. I didn’t exactly understand what the artworks meant, but they were certainly interactive.
Not a bar but illuminated ping-pong tables - Challenge your friends to a table tennis match in the dark!
Keeping to the route brings you past several more art installations before your run ends at The Promontory @ Marina Bay.

Festivities end on March 27th so be quick to get your friends out of their library chairs and on an illuminating run along the Marina Bay area to enjoy the night lights and festivities!
